WEEKENDS AT ROSARIO
For Jake’s birthday weekend, despite the chill and an ominous Sunday forecast, we took the boat to Rosario on Orcas Island for the weekend. We played in the pool and had a nice dinner at the restaurant followed by a nightcap and some live music in the bar. We woke up early Sunday to decide whether we could make our way back before the worst of the weather hit. We ended up deciding that it would be fun and much more comfortable to leave the boat on Orcas, take the ferry to Anacortes and come back the following weekend. The following weekend, we were back after catching the late Friday ferry. We rented a car and drive to the boat. Once again the weather forecast was terrible, and we abandoned plans to bring the boat back. Rosario resort gave us an excellent rate of $7/day. We spent Saturday playing around East Sound and the vicinity, including making a trip to a ceramics studio with a terrific treehouse that Willow and Jake played in while Jen shopped. We aimed to catch the first ferry of the morning back on Sunday, but cut things a bit too close and ended up having to wait several hours for the next boat. We spent the morning having a leisurely breakfast in East Sound and trying to figure out when we might be able to come back and get the boat. We finally made it back on a beautiful but cold day on December 7th.
