Back Story
We met in the year 2000 when Jen moved to San Jose, CA to take a job as a business and technology reporter at KNTV the station where Jake was working as an assistant producer on the morning show. We became friends and eventually started dating. Our first real date was Super Bowl Sunday in February of the year 2000.
We got engaged on March 17, 2005 at Iguazu Falls in Argentina. We got married on June 16, 2007 next to Portage Glacier in Alaska, where Jen grew up. We moved to Seattle in 2008 from Washington, DC. For our first two+ years here we lived in a wonderful Belltown condo building on the 23rd floor in an apartment with panoramic views of the city, Elliott Bay and the Olympic mountains and Rainier (ok, you did have to crane your neck a bit for Rainier--the picture on the left was taken head hanging out of our living room window.) Jake and I were both able to walk to our jobs and once Willow started daycare, able to walk her to daycare as well. Life was good, but we were a bit cramped and interest rates were very low. So, we bought a house with a big backyard in Seattle’s Magnolia. We moved to Seattle from DC, Jake’s hometown. We had moved to DC in 2006 for Jake’s job. Before moving to DC, we lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for about 7 years. We met while living in San Jose and both working at KNTV, the NBC TV station. A year or so later we had both moved up the bay to San Francisco and Jen had started law school. The commute for Jake was longer but the views from our apartment across the street from Golden Gate Park were much better. A short time after moving we got our two rescue kitties, orange tabby brothers, Tony (formerly Simba) & Leo. After Jen finished law school and the bar exam, Jake quit his job and we headed out on a 7 month trip to South America and Africa. On October 21, 2009, we welcomed Willow Isabela to the world. In May of 2011, not long after our kitty Leo died of liver cancer, we got Gabby, a golden retriever and the official dog breed of Magnolia,. |
