LA PAZ BOAT TRIP
VIAJE DE SOL
It may seem unusual for us to go to the same area of the world twice in a row... So, here’s what happened: When we spent Thanksgiving in Baja, we were supposed to charter a boat. But, at the time, there were 10-12ft. seas and 30kt. winds. So, the charter operator was nice enough to give us a raincheck. This January 2012 trip in between Jen’s jobs was the raincheck.
We thought we might take one of their sailboats (that’s what we’d reserved), but when we got there, no sailboat was available until mañana. So, in a bizarre twist, we ended up on Sea Fortuna, a 37ft. fishing boat (replete with a dozens rods, hooks, fish freezers and ice chests). And, off we went!
We motored north from La Paz to Isla Espiritu Santo and spent 4 days and 3 nights marveling at the empty anchorages and beautifully-lonely white sand beaches. We passed dolphins and a whale (or maybe they passed us).
We made sandcastles and (gasp!) almost ran out of apple juice.
But, mostly, we re-acquainted ourselves with the sun!
Photo Note: We took 600+ photos. We’ll start this page with some of them to tell a story... following the story are the rest of the photos.
