Monterey Bay
We flew down to San Jose on Friday of the first weekend in March and drove south to Monterey, arriving late at our hotel. The next morning we got up bright and early, played on the beach, checked out a local jewelry store for a wedding ring replacement and then headed to the aquarium. We were glad to have arrived early. Even for a non-holiday weekend in March, it got crowded fast. We spent lots of time checking out the jellyfish and seahorse exhibits and watched the divers feed the fish in the Kelp forest and in the open ocean exhibits. Willow was thrilled with the whole aquarium but especially with the large kids’ area. After the aquarium. we headed south to Carmel for lunch and a lovely walk on the beach. The next morning, we walked down the bike trail for a delicious breakfast. The granola raspberry pancakes were the best Jen’s had since we left California. Then, we visited the world’s greatest playground, inspired by Dennis the Menace. After a walk on Fort Ord beach we headed back to San Jose to fly out, but not before we stopped for some fried artichoke hearts and tacos!
