Sailboat in Portland
Our First Sail on Iguazu
On Saturday morning, we drove down to Portland to get our new sailboat ready for the drive up to Seattle, but first we took it out for a little spin on the river. We even managed to sail it for about 15 minutes when the wind finally kicked up on our way back to the marina. After our sail, we grilled burgers on the deck and settled in for our first night on board. On Sunday, we got up and scrubbed down the inside from bow to stern, secured loose items and took off what we couldn’t secure. On Monday, the marina removed the mast and rigging. Two days later, our boat arrived at North Lake Union in Seattle, where it has now been put back together and is ready to head up to Anacortes about an hour and ten minutes north of Seattle where we will be keeping it. By the way, we named the boat Iguazu because we got engaged at Iguazu Falls in Argentina on March 17, 2005.
