2015 was an unforgettable year.dominated by some major events .
February: Jake’s Mom died. Bonnie lived an excellent life. She fought a life-long battle for civil rights in DC and SF. She did it while fighting her own battles as a pioneering female lawyer. She was celebrated by hundreds, evident in the full-house for her remembrance and the messages we’ve gotten after her death. She was an awesome Grandma Bonnie to Willow, taken too soon by breast cancer to meet her Grandson, who is named after her.
March/April: Jen’s 97-year-old grandmother Elizabeth passed away and less than 24 hours later Bartholomew “Bo” Spencer Arterburn Milstein entered the world on April Fools’ Day. We’re going to have lots of fun with that birthday! 7lb 11oz and he’s growing quickly. The now-9-month old is babbling, crawling too fast, & smiling at everyone (notice we didn’t say “sleeping”). Between Bo, Willow, and dog Gabby, we outgrew our house.
May-November: We tore the roof off, added a 2nd story, redid the kitchen, and landscaped. For six months, we lived in an apartment and watched our house go up. It’s been an amazing experience full of architectural drawings, engineering, tile, flooring, and how-can-a-house-have-this-many-drawer-pulls.
In between these life-changing events, we managed to fit in the usual fun: visits to AK, sailing, roadtrips, our wonderful jobs (Geocaching & KIRO) and first grade for Willow. We look forward to 2016--and whatever it may bring!
